Teachers and students hula hoop for a cure for blood cancer patients. For the next two weeks, STEAM asks you to donate spare change to help save the lives of people touched by blood cancers. Our school needs to raise at least $500.00 to win a pizza party for the class who collects the most money. Our school goal is $800.00.

Ms. Victoria Agnew, who grew up in Madison, Mississippi, is a 2015 summa cum laude graduate of Jackson State University and is in her first year of teaching.  An interesting fact about Ms. Agnew, who holds a math certification, is that she moved from Cincinnati, Ohio, with her family to Hattiesburg when she was just nine months old.  When she graduated from Jackson State in May, it was an easy decision to return to the city that she has long considered her second home.  Ms. Agnew has always loved mathematics and has been tutoring students in the subject since she was barely out of middle school.  She is the daughter of Ronnie and Cynthia Agnew of Madison, Mississippi.  Her father, former managing editor of The Hattiesburg American, is currently executive director of Mississippi Public Broadcasting.  In addition to teaching math, Ms. Agnew’s passion is singing contemporary gospel music.  She has been a lead vocalist in churches all over the country.

Again, I would like to thank all my STEAM teammates. I look forward to learning more and making a future with the district.
